Overview

Rimonyx is a biopharmaceutical start-up company focused on discovery and development of innovative anti-inflammatory therapeutics. The company is using its proprietary Small Molecule Inhibitors of Adhesion to Glycosaminoglycans (SMIG) platform to identify an entirely new class of drugs. The SMIG platform is based on analysis of clinically-proven drugs and involves rational drug design. Rimonyx has discovered a number of lead compounds against pro-inflammatory chemokines and cytokines. The company has generated a pipeline of several promising early and optimized lead compounds which are being advanced towards pre-clinical development. Among therapeutic indications pursued are rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases and acute pancreatitis. The SMIG platform has applications also for cancer, amyloid disorders (e. g.., Alzheimer’s disease) and viral diseases. Rimonyx is funded by private investors and governmental grants.
