Drug Discovery PlatformThe Rimonyx SMIG (Small Molecule Inhibitors of adhesion to GAGs) Platform is designed to discover and develop potent, non-toxic, small molecule drugs targeting GAG – mediated diseases. The integrated SMIG platform is based on a novel, fundamental mechanism of drug action and combines an algorithm-selected collection of compounds, drug screening and validated drug targets. The company has acquired a chemical collection of drug-like compounds that has been selected from over 900,000 compounds by in silico analysis with Rimonyx’ proprietary SMIG algorithm.
Targeting Chemokines
The SMIG platform is being used for discovery of orally-administered therapeutics that target the chemokine system. Poor regulation of the chemokine network is at the core of autoimmune disease and inflammatory disorders such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, and transplant rejection. The Company and its scientific team have developed a state of the art technology to target chemokine gradients and develop drugs that target them, providing a significant competitive advantage when compared to other chemokine antagonist programs. In particular, inhibitors of chemokine gradients are expected to have an improved efficacy over chemokine antagonists.
